A buddy of mine is looking to get one of these. I don’t know a whole lot about them other than they use the 4.6L 3v modular V8 out of the Mustang and it’s good for 292 HP, not terrible for a ~4500lbs vehicle. Didn’t this generation Explorer have transmission issues?
Weren’t these pretty rare? I think I’ve heard that less than 6,000 adrenalins were made so that means that there is probably less than a 1,000 in Canada.
There is currently only 14 of them for sale in all of Canada. We found one locally in red it’s an ‘09 that I think he wants to buy this weekend.
I like it mostly for the fact that you will most likely be the only one you’ll see on the road instead of having the same car as 10,000 other people in town.
He currently owns an ‘05 F150 XLT and a ‘06 Chrysler 300 so you can see why he wants some thing a bit more unique.

They are ok, I don’t recall trans being an issue but I do know all 3v Modulars are notorious for breaking plugs during plug changes so if it hasn’t been serviced in a while it might be an expensive 1st service.

They are.. uhh different. I’m not sure I would say good, but not really bad either. They do have some fun little quirky things about them (the massive power retracting rear window) and the 3v 4.6 at least helps them get out of their own way. I had a buddy with one and it sounded good, was different than the other bro trucks at his super country high school, and fast compared to the 90s chevys that all the rest of his friends drove, so he loved it. I always just found it kinda meh but honestly amazingly practical.
It being the 09 means it will have IRS and less potential (really hard to find parts) to wheel, but being the adrenaline I’m guessing he doesn’t care at all.

Yeah he is looking at it for more of a street truck. I don’t think he has any plans of off roading it.

Yeah, I’ve heard the transmissions are less than stout but to be honest its a super common ford trans it probably costs like $700 for a good shop to rebuild it. I know that sounds stupid but the fact of the matter is that rebuilding a trans on a popular domestic car tends to be dirt cheap comparatively. I probably wouldn’t let that keep him from buying it IF he honestly really likes it.

Every once in a while I see a bright blue Adrenalin and my inner bro screams I NEED THAT. It's a damn fine looking truck-SUV thing.

I had an 04 xlt. I loved the truck. It could haul family or a load of lumber. Turning radius was measured in miles.

no it was a V6 and at 100,500 miles a guide rail for the timing chain let go and the engine self destructed

Should be a 6r series trans. They didn’t have that many issues to worry about. The ones before them however....
